
On the 1st and 2nd of June, the annual conference of the European Union Association Asia Pacific (EUSAAP) has been successfully organised in collaboration with the EUSA Japan, Hitotsubashi University and European Union Studies Association Asia Pacific (EUSAAP). The conference titled “The EU in the Age of Turbulence: Crises and Beyond
” brought together over 100 papers from Europe, Asia, Australia, New Zealand and beyond. The topics considered the struggle for strategic autonomy, the changing global order, climate change and decarbonization, and European Union engagement in the Indo-Pacific.

Two ESAANZ papers, both presented in panel 4a at 17:15 on 1 June:
It was a great opportunity to connect with academic colleagues working in the area of European Studies across Asia-Pacific. ESAANZ was represented by Mathew Doidge (serving as acting president) and Anne McNaughton, both of whom presneted in panel 4a on the 1st of June. We are very proud of their contributions and look forward to the EUSAAP 2027 conference.
